During the Summer I signed up to run the marathon on behalf of CHICKS . This is a charity which aims to provide as many disadvantaged children as possible with the life enhancing experience of a free respite break away in the countryside at one of their centers in Devon or .

I became involved with the charity over the summer when I volunteered at their camp for two weeks. It was a fantastic experience and it allowed me to see first hand what an amazing charity this is. I have always appreciated that I have been very lucky in life, however, it really hit home just how much I have taken for granted. The children which I was volunteering with were just kids and it really struck me how unfair their lives are. This has meant that many of these children have never been able to act like a kids;  to run around, make noise, and be praised for their achievements, so this is a holiday for them. For most people I know this was just a normal childhood. There were a number of children who opened up to me on the camp and their stories were truly shocking, to them the holiday was a big event in their life, with most crying when it was time to go back. It is for this reason that I decided to run the marathon so as I can raise money for the charity and allow more children to benefit from a break which CHICKS will give them.
