When we first found out that our beautiful son Jackson was blind, we went to Moorfields for some answers. Although they told us there was currently no cure, the lovely professor we met filled us with hope - saying one day, research might find a way to help Jackson see.

Thanks to a persistent group of families, all with children with the same condition, that day, 15 years on,  now feels like it is within touching distance.

A passionate team of scientists at UCL have already started a research project working with our team of families to better understand this rare condition. The next step is to grow some mini retinas (I know - how cool!)  so that they can better understand the condition - and hopefully find a cure which will one day help Jackson see. To do that, they need money. A lot of money!! They don’t get funding from the NHS but we can help, all of the families are fundraising to get us closer to the amount we need - somewhere in the region of £500k in total. 

Those of you who know me will know that although I have all the gear and gadgets, regular strenuous exercise is not really my thing. So I’ve chosen something which will be a real challenge. I’m joining some guys from Team CRB1 to walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge. A 24.5 mile, 12 hour trek which climbs higher than Ben Nevis. Yikes!!
