100 years ago, British women were given the right to vote. In 2018 however, there are still many legal, social and cultural barriers that prevent women from voting worldwide. 

On Sunday 15th July I'm joining 99 other women as part of the #Westminster100 team at the British 10K in central London, to raise money for @UNWomenUK and their work for voting equality. I'm not a jogger, and certainly haven't run more than 5km since having a major lung operation in 2016, so it's a bit of a personal milestone too!

Female electoral turnout is particularly low in countries such as Pakistan (where I spent 7 weeks in 2005) Egypt, Afghanistan, Kenya, Mali and Nigeria. UN Women will use the money I raise to further their work in educating, informing and protecting women around the world, so they feel able to exercise their right to vote, and can do it safely.
