Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 5th March I will jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet and freefall at 120 mph as part of Trinity's 120th Anniversary Skydive. I hope to raise over £500 for Trinity.

Trinity Hospice cares for over 2000 dying people in central and south west London every year, in their own homes and in our inpatient centre. We help our patients to maintain their independence and empower them to make their own decisions for as long as they can regardless of their disease. We also care for the families and friends of our patients as we are very aware how someone's illness will affect the whole family and not solely the patient. It costs £8 million to run the hospice each year, and only 36% of this comes from the government. Trinity must raise the rest with the help of our community and we are reliant on donations and legacies to be able to continue to provide this support.

As a Trinity Nurse Specialist in community palliative care at Trinity, I know how important our work is. Many of the people I visit at home talk about how they found it difficult to cope with their illness before Trinity came into their lives. We help our patients to manage their illness whether it is cancer or any other advanced life limiting illness and give them the confidence to live as normal a life as possible.

I am very nervous about doing the jump especially as I suffer with vertigo, but I know that the money I raise will be going to a very worthy cause. Please help me reach my target – I know taking the plunge out of the plane will be much easier when I know I have a lot of support!

Donating through JustGiving is simple and secure. If you are a UK tax payer, please Gift Aid your donations so Trinity can claim 25p extra for every pound you donate.

Thank you for your support.
