Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Now with Allan the latest addition to our team we have again been inspired to participate in Alyn Hospital's annual International Bike Ride - "Wheels of Love" which this year will take us back down from Jerusalem to the Negev where we will spend 3 days cycling some very picturesque and extremely challenging terrain culminating in a final days ride almost all uphill back up to Alyn in Jerusalem. In total we will be riding for 5 days and will climb around 15,000 feet. All of this to make a commitment to raise funds for the special physically challenged children undergoing rehabilitation at this remarkable hospital.
Alyn Hospital, Israel's only Pediatric & Adolescent Rehabilitation Centre, is one of the world's leading specialists in the active and intensive rehabilitation of children regardless of religion or ethnic origin, suffering from a broad range of physical disabilities. Unfortunately, there is a significant gap between the fixed hospitalisation rates received and the actual costs of the multi-disciplinary high level quality rehabilitation services that are provided to all the children treated at the hospital.
Mark visited Alyn before he participated in his first ride 4 years ago and was not just impressed by the facilities but deeply moved by the care and love shown to all the residents and attendees of the hospital and the amazing results achieved.
The "Wheels of Love" event is the main fund raiser for the hospital with all money raised by us through the ride going directly to bridging the budget deficit. We have covered our own costs so that the hospital will gain maximum benefit from the funds we raise.
Sarah is 9 years old. She is a sweet and shy girl who adores animals. She came to ALYN after a devastating traffic accident left her with multiple serious injuries. The therapy she needs to regain the use of her legs is extremely long and difficult. Yet she is always excited to see the animals in ALYN's pet therapy program. The amazing part is that Sarah doesn't even realize that playing with animals is a vital therapy for her recovery. She just knows it's fun.
