Story
Thank you for visiting my Charity sponsor web page
I am raising money for the Alzheimer's Society and hoping to raise well in excess of 1500 pounds so that the charity can continue to provide vital services for people with dementia and their loved ones. 1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia. Both my grandparents had dementia in the last decade of their lives and it was very upsetting to see the effects dementia has.
In order to raise this money I will be doing the Alpine Cycle Challenge and will be cycling from Zurich to Frankfurt, a 270 miles (around 430 km) journey over a period of 4 days.
About the challenge
On Thursday 1st July me and my bike get transported from London to Zurich and the cycling will start on July the 2nd and will end 4 days later on July the 5th. On the first two days the cycling will go through the Alps, over step mountain passes and through deep valleys. The elevation on the first day is around 1000m which is equivalent to cycling up 4 Canary Wharf towers. On the last two days the route will follow the Rheine river from Strasbourg to Frankfurt.
Each day I have to cycle al least 8 hours, to be able to complete this challenge.
About Alzheimer’s Society
Alzheimer's Society is the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those that care for them. There are over 700,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025. Dementia is not a natural part of ageing; it is caused by diseases of the brain and gradually robs people of their lives. Every day, more people affected by dementia turn for help to Alzheimer's Society than to any other organisation. We provide information and support for people with various forms of dementia, run quality care services, fund research and campaign for improved health and social care and a greater awareness for those living with dementia.
