We provide the very best palliative care to help both patients and their families

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My husband, Mike Dawson, was diagnosed with advanced metastatic cancer in July 2014. This came as a huge shock to us and we didn't realise how many of the services in place to support people with life changing illnesses rely so critically on charitable donations.

Sadly, Mike lost his battle on 18th October and passed away peacefully in Cynthia Spencer Hospice. He regained his dignity during his last days largely as a result of the expert care provided by all the staff there.

Mike  was a Maths teacher, most recently at Stowe School, and formerly Deputy Head of Akeley Wood School, both in Buckinghamshire. He was active all his life, sport being one of his major passions, coaching athletes at MK and Northampton Athletics clubs as well as at school, playing and refereeing rugby and most recently participating in CrossFit at Unit 22 in Northampton.

I am fundraising to help support this charity because I know how important Cynthia Spencer Hospice is to the local area, and I can't tell you how grateful I am that Mike was able to spend his final days there, giving him the peace and respect he so deserved.
