Let the challenge commence!!
Dear all,
Firstly I would like to thank each and everyone of you who supported my mission to Haiti last year. As some of you know my journey was extended and I had the great honor of working and living in Haiti for 10months.
Living and working alongside some remarkable passionate people really changed my whole perspective in life and I continue to share these stories of the highs and lows that have touched my heart. I support the charities work in raising awareness about the importance of basic healthcare for the people of Haiti, especially raising the profile of supporting people and their families with physical and learning disabilities.
98% of people with disabilities in developing countries don't have access to healthcare.....yes 98%....We all know it's a human right to have basic healthcare, no matter where you live in the world.
The reason why I am asking people to support the work of Haiti Hospital Appeal is because I have witnessed the important role the hospital has in the community, as it just doesn't provide vital live saving healthcare. It also serves employment for hundreds of locals, a cafe and a gym bringing the community together sharing a real sense of unity in the North of Haiti.
But what really has touched me is their enduring efforts and commitment to raise the profile of supporting people and their families who have been effected by the devastating earthquake. Following the earthquake the charity partnered with the Swiss paraplegic foundation trust and other organisations opening a rehabilitation unit providing specialist care for the victims and the families who suffered from the earthquake. Part of this rehabilitation work we emphasize the role of sport to our patients.
Sport is a great way of forgetting about you inability and concentrating on your ability. With that in mind, I will be taking part in a handbike relay from London to Switzerland to raise some urgently needed funds to support our disability work. I will be completing two marathons (85k) for the team or more!!!!!
So please be a part of this great cause and join together to raise the critical funds that will change lives #Disabilityisnotinability#
Thank you so much for everyone's support.
