Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2017, mum (Amanda) was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. In May of the same year, we found out that it was terminal. Amanda fought her strongest fight from the moment she was diagnosed and undertook multiple rounds of chemotherapy and more recently, immunotherapy. She remained positive throughout and never once took the why me attitude. She fought the bravest fight but sadly in the end the cancer was too much for her.
On Friday 20 July, we were told Amanda had only days, maybe weeks to live and she was moved to the Forest Holme Hospice in Poole. Anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer, will know already that there is nothing peaceful about dying from this brutal disease. During her final two weeks, the care she received from the nurses and doctors at Forest Holme Hospice was exceptional and we will be forever grateful to them for what they did to make Amanda more comfortable in her final days. The genuine care and affection that they showed her and us will always be remembered. Amanda passed away on 2 August 2018, with her closest family present.
Rather than people sending flowers, we would be very grateful if you could make a donation to Forest Holme Hospice, so that they can continue their invaluable work and support other people, who like Amanda, need constant care in their final days.
