Fundraising for Cancer Research UK
Thanks for taking the time from your busy schedule to visit this page.
At the end of September 2010, I will be attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain (technically a volcano) in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world at 19,000 ft above sea level. For those of you that know me, will know that I get out of breath when climbing the 12 steps leading to the pub, so this will take a little preparation. The trek itself is 5 days hike under severe conditions with 4 nights camping on the mountain. The biggest fear is altitude sickness which commonly makes people extremely sick and then there is no facebook nor e-mail for 5 days. Here comes the science bit:I would like to raise money for cancer research while doing the trek. Cancer is something that has impacted most of our lives at least indirectly and I have personally witnessed family and friends live through cancer and recover from it.Through cancer research survival rates have doubled over the last 40 years but every year 150,000 still die through the disease.I have spoken to the people at Cancer Research UK and I am confident that they are at the heart of the ongoing progress in cancer research. http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/Please help support me and the cancer research by denoting on this page...or pledging on the facebook page.
