Story
My name is Ana Gonçalves, I have been running Marathons for the past 15 years and during that time I have raised over £100k towards many Jersey, Channel Island local charities.
My past achievements include 7 marathons in 7 day, 100 miles within 24 hours, running The Marathon des Sables in the Moroccan desert and most recently completing
The Comrades Marathon an Ultramarathon approximately 89 km (approx. 56 miles) which is a run annually in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa between the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg.
Most recently I have been raising money in aid of Headway Jersey and Peas & Glove. Both charities are linked to brain injuries and the recuperation of victims. I chose to support charities that help individuals with brain injuries due to the fact my sister had suffered a brain injury and was told she wasn't going to pull through and if she did she was likely not to speak/walk again. With the support from all the nurses and therapists in Southampton Hospital she was able to pull
through successfully and can now walk and talk perfectly fine. I would really like to help those currently suffering and those families who are also suffering.
I have chosen this momentous challenge because I would like to be the first person (male or female) to complete 30 marathons in 30 days! This will be by far the hardest challenge I've ever agreed to attempt. In order to give this challenge a good go I have been training every day and I've been lucky enough to work with a great team at Elevate Jersey who has been assisting me with training and recovery. I have also been lucky enough to have my own nutritionist Kit Chamier who has been helping me along the way.
That is just a small snippet of who I am, what I have currently achieved and what I would like to achieve, now it's over to you- please dig deep and donate to this worthy charity. Any amount large or small could possibly change so many lives.
Let's make a difference!
