Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page for the 2019 Fred Whitton Challenge.
"The Fred" is often quoted as the original and most difficult cycling sportive in the country. 112 miles over 6 of the most difficult passes in the county, plus many other hills and just generally unpleasant terrain. It'll be difficult on the nicest of days, but throw in the traditional Lake District weather and there'll be no doubt a head wind at some point to contend with.
I've trained hard since entering in January, but I still don't feel prepared enough mentally to take on the challenge of Hardknott and Wrynose when approaching the 100 mile mark.
After watching Matt take part last year, I know that the cowbells and clapping of supporters all around the route will give me the boost I need, so if your local, come out and support all the riders who will be very grateful of your encouragement.
Of course, supporting Jack's Journey is a no brainer for me. We support Cumbrian families who have undergone a childhood cancer diagnosis, somethingbwe know all to well. Providing financial support, Jack-Packs of hospital essentials and now Holiday Home stays, we do as much as we can to support families going through hell..
Please donate generously and share the page! £500 will support a couple of families or fund the upkeep of the Holiday Home for a month or 2, so getting to this target is very worthwhile!
Donating via justgiving is incredibly beneficial to the charity, as funds are transferred electronically reducing handling of cash, as well as the benefits around collecting GiftAid contributions.
Thanks in advance!
