I believe that in order to give someone a brighter future you have to give them hope. Hope is the most powerful tool out there. Giving hope is not doing it for them - it is not even giving them tools - it is giving them the belief that they can. When they believe then you just have to stand beside them - support them and they will do it themselves. This is far more important than anything else - this is accomplishment.

I have been a Trustee of Raising Futures Kenya (formerly called Vision Africa Give a Child a Future) since 2015, I have personally visited the charity's projects in Kenya and seen for myself the transformative work the charity does with vulnerable children and young people. The charity supports people to break the cycle of poverty and inequality by investing in their education, training, personal and professional development. This may be through provision of education fees, vocational training, personal guidance or business start up grants.

I am taking on the great personal challenge of climbing Mount Kenya to raise money for the charity in July 2019 - if I can climb to the 5,199m peak and reach my fundraising goal of £3,000 then Raising Futures Kenya will be able to support even more vulnerable children and young people to break free from poverty.
