TAG offer local level support across the UK to people living with Arthrogryposis Multiplex
Congenita (AMC) or one of the 200 related conditions. They provide opportunities to meet others with Arthrogryposis, their
families and anyone involved in their care. You can find out more about them at
www.tagonline.org.uk.
What's AMC? Arthrogryposis covers a range of conditions; describing the
limiting of movements in the joints - could be one / two or most of the
joints; the cause is unknown; the treatment is long term; with
multiple operations, splinting and physiotherapy.
The cause of the condition is not known for
certain although a number of factors including defects and decreased
space, in which the foetus can move in the womb, have been identified
as possible reasons. Treatment consists of physiotherapy, splinting of
the affected joints and most children face several operations in the
first years.
