We support disadvantaged 11-30 year olds to get their lives on track.

Story

Thank you all for your very generous contributions.  I will send an email to you all because you'll most likely not see this - I asked a work colleague to draw a name from a bag for the bottle of champagne, and the winner is...... John Pakulski.  I will hand over the bottle to John sometime next week.

I didn't finish last (actually 126th out of the 350 finishers).  It was very windy (2 and a half laps, and 3 times into a headwind), but really satisfying because there were so many onlookers and supporters on the day cheering us on around the course.  My time was 51.01 minutes (that's 8min 12 sec a mile).  20 minutes after I finished the heavens opened up big time and we all ran for cover (must have kept some in reserves).  Well worth it though, and thank you all again for your fantastic donations.  I'll sort out an independent draw to see who gets the bottle of champagne later this week because I'm expecting some late sponsors.

I've taken up the Prince's Trust Million Makers Challenge with a number of friends.  We have to raise £10,000 by January 2010!  This isn't easy as you can imagine.  The money we raise will then be used to help young entrepreneurs to start their own businesses.

We've set up a website so that you know how we are planning to do this and so that you can do your bit.  You can find it here - http://www.justduckit.co.uk.  Adnams (http://adnams10k.co.uk/) are also raising money for this Prince's Trust Million Makers Challenge.  So I've decided to take part in their 10km run in order that I can raise money for both these challenges.

So please sponsor me for my run - it'll be tough for my 48 year old legs and lungs.  The money you contribute will go towards a total of 6 new businesses owned by talented young entrepreneurs who have otherwise had a tough time in life.  The run will take place on 22 November.  Once I've completed the run, I will draw one name ('out of a hat') from all those who have sponsored and give a bottle of or an M&S voucher (of same value).
