I had a number for the run last year but had to defer it as my mother died from bowel cancer just 2 days before the run. I was her main carer for 4 years and stayed with her in hospital for 3 days and nights until she passed away. My dad died of cancer in 2007 and my sister is in remission from breast cancer. This has all made me more determined than ever to raise money to help find a cure for this awful disease. As Event Chair for Jarrow Relay For Life I have helped raise almost a quarter of a million pounds for CRUK .Hopefully doing the run will help to raise a little bit more and no doubt the memory of my mam this time last year will keep me motivated through the run.
