Story

For those who know about the Dream Board of August '16, Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England, is on it. Oh dear.

Having scrambled up Mount Batur in October, I can confirm that climbing is Still Definitely Not My Thing. My legs are too short, my arms are too weak and figuring out footholds is the fastest route from 0-grumpy. I get my map reading skills from my dad, who managed to climb Scafell Pike by accident after taking a wrong turn in the 90s.

...but enough is enough. We live in the 21st century and there are still hungry, cold people on the streets. I saw a chance to raise some money, do some good and make some memories.

I'll keep you updated on my journey as I go and really appreciate your support (especially as I tackle incline treadmills this Winter/Spring.. the only way to get the practice in for elevation in pancakeville/Cambridgeshire...)

UPDATE::- We have done it! Thank you to all of our kind sponsors for your support.

On Saturday, we took a wrong turn and climbed Sca Fell by accident (the second tallest mountain in England). Saw Scafell Pike's (20m taller) summit when we got to the top. Realised we had taken a tough 7 hour climb up the wrong mountain!!!!

On Sunday, determined not to let you down, we set out for our 9 hour Scafell Pike climb via Wasdale. We were aching from the day before and it was foggy, but this time sure not to commit any navigational blips.. well, for the first two hours anyway. We took a wrong turn and scrambled up the Mickledore route to the top. This is very definitely NOT the easiest route up. We made it virtually alone to see the fog break on the summit, cut through by sunshine. The Borrowdale descent was peaceful and beautiful, almost entirely.

Thank you to Russell, for getting me through even when I *really* wanted to give up... It turns out we did more than we ever planned to do or thought we could. WHAT an adventure.
