Story
In 1999 when my dad was in the final stages of non-Hodgkins lymphoma a friend told me about Hospice at Home, a service provided by Nottinghamshire Hospice. The support that we were offered meant that dad was able to die at home as he wished. When our dear friend Rob was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2012 Nottinghamshire Hospice were one of the first places we contacted to put care into place.
When Rob died in 2012 I was training as a counsellor and when the time came to find a placement the Hospice was the first place I went. I have been a volunteer counsellor there ever since.
The Hospice provides day therapy at their beautiful premises on Woodborough Road, where patients can receive a range of therapies, take part in craft activities and get a wonderful cooked lunch. Hospice at Home provide care in the patients home, and valuable support to families.
The Hospice need to raise £3 million a year to provide these services so rely on the generosity of the public to support them.
That's why I'm going to lose my locks! I want to raise at least £1200 (the cost of an oxygen exchanger). You can support me by sponsoring me and/or coming to our event on Wednesday 30th November at The Townhouse in Arnold where I will be having my head shaved as part of an evening of entertainment and craziness!
