Story
We are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 8th October, to raise money and awareness for the amazing charity Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK). CAUK is currently the only charity in the UK which supports people and their families being diagnosed and living with one or multiple cavernomas in the brain and/or spine.
A cavernoma is an abnormal blood vessel that can be found in the brain and/or spinal cord, often resulting in life changing symptoms and effects for the person and their family.
After having a bleed on the right side of my brain, I was diagnosed as having a cavernoma in 2018. It was a terrifying and lonely time and Cavernoma Alliance was such a lifeline, providing much needed information and support to me and my family.
Pregnancy with a cavernoma is an area that lacks research and case studies, and CAUK was our go to for help and support ahead of the safe arrival of our son.
We want to raise money to continue to fund research into treatment, rehabilitation, education and pregnancy support for anyone in the UK who is affected by this condition.
Any donation, however small, would be greatly appreciated by this amazing charity and help to give us both a boost as we attempt to jog for healthy brains!
Lots of love
