Story
A departure so sudden and unexpected... on 10 November 2014, Antoine suffered a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, which very sadly proved fatal.
Many thanks to you all for your kind support. Gladys xx
Supporting the Circulation Foundation in memory of Antoine
Abdominal aortic aneurysm is a form of vascular disease threatening enough to
cause death from its rupture if not detected and treated.
Vascular disease is the term that describes blood vessel
diseases. Blood vessels are the series of tubes that are used to pump blood
throughout the body. The three types of blood vessels are arteries, veins and
lymphatics.
Vascular disease is serious and can lead to disability, amputation,
organ damage and even death. Although this disease is so common in our society
and can affect people of all ages and all walks of life, it is vastly underfunded
in the field of medical research.
Established in 1992, the Circulation Foundation exists to fund research that in the short term, advances treatment of circulatory disorders and in the long term, prevents vascular disease altogether. It provides essential information and
support to sufferers and their families, whilst raising awareness of
vascular disease and the importance of healthy veins and arteries. The Circulation Foundation is a relatively small medical
research charity, so every donation makes a BIG difference, but their ambitions
are not small by any means. Their Vision
is to reduce death, disability and suffering due to vascular disease and their Mission
is to fund and promote research into the causes, treatment and
prevention of vascular disease in the UK.
