Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

Hi my name is Roger Allan and I’m a big rugby fan (Sheffield Eagles) I’m 71 and my friends who will be accompanying me are 67 and 74, we are keen cyclist's and would like to help a charity raise some funds but most importantly raise awareness of cardiac arrest in sports.

When I heard that Tony Tonks wanted to raise awareness and some funds for Heartbeat of sport charity I decided to offer my services and do him a sponsored bike ride. “Good idea” he said, “lets meet up and have a chat “This we did and I had another way of raising money but more about that later. I suggested we could do 50 miles (plus) ride, “ok “says Tony and promptly changed the subject. Not wanting to be put off I asked if he had done any cycling “yes” he said “I once rode to Bridlington and back” yeah and Bradley Wiggins once played prop for Wigan I thought. Anyway true to his word a date has been set and on the 1st of August he and another budding rider a certain Eddy Batty will be attempting to cover the distance with me (aged 71) and two other members of the dads army c.c. (age 67 and 74).

Age is just a number me and the oldies are keen cyclists, what worries me is these two props. I have spoken to Mark Ashton and the conditioner of the Sheffield eagles (Nick ward), they say this will be great training for the pair, building up to the middle 8 competition in August they could do with losing a couple of Kilo's . Good luck.

So here we have it me Roger Allan (71) Frank ''superman'' Rushby,        Pat ''Bradley'' wilson (67) (74)   VS Tony 'Tonka Truck' Tonks (30) Eddie 'The Buffalo' Battye (23),  the prop forwards from Sheffield eagles.

Age is just a number.

12 young people under the age of 35 die every week from sudden cardiac arrest,

help us reduce the number..

Many Thanks for your support, Roger and the lads.
