Hello Friends! If you listen to Avatar: Braving the Elements, you may remember that we talked about me wanting to put together a fundraiser to support manatees, on behalf of our beloved Appa. It’s November, and that’s Manatee Awareness Month! So if you’re able to show Appa’s relatives some kindness and support, amazing! If not, feel free to spread the word, with my heartfelt thanks!!

Celebrate Manatee Awareness Month and helping manatees for the love of Appa! The month-long recognition of imperiled manatees was first declared in 1979 by Former Florida Governor Bob Graham, who co-founded Save the Manatee Club along with singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. Manatees face threats from a number of human-related reasons, including watercraft collisions, pollutants in waterways that feed algal blooms, entanglement and ingestion of trash, and loss of habitat. Through our combined efforts, we can help protect the future of manatees and their aquatic habitat.
