Story
On the 20 February 2009 Ashlee Jane Edmondson died at eighteen years of age from Aortic Dissection, an effect of Marfans Syndrome; a condition Ashlee was born with that affects the connective tissue in the body and symptoms can occur in various organs. Throughout her life, Ashlee underwent multiple operations at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We would like to show our gratitude to the hospital by raising money to support families going through similar experiences that our own family endured for eighteen years. We know first hand how the hospital can give hope in the most unfair and desperate of situations.
Ashlee was not defined by her condition, she hardly spoke about it to her friends and her regular hospital trips were never dwelled upon. Ashlee loved traveling, shopping and joking around. She enjoyed her job, and was an extremely talented writer. She loved life and lived it to the full, and in raising money for this fantastic charity we would like to help give others the same opportunity.
In 2010 we organised a charity event called "oh my GOSH- Ashlee's Charity Gig"- in which we raised thousands of pounds in celebration of Ashlee's 19th birthday. The event included live bands, a DJ, a raffle and an auction.
--------------Great Ormond Street Hospital was a charity close to Ashlee's heart, and she would be so proud to know that we are raising such an incredible amount of money in her name.
On a more selfish note, it provides some comfort to family and friends during this difficult time, to know that positive things can be achieved out of such pain and tragedy. Please, donate generously. There really is no price for life.-----------------
