Story

Harry was born on 16th July at just 23 plus 5 days gestation at The Liverpool Women’s Hospital and was taken straight to the NICU. It was clear from the start that Harry was strong and wasn’t giving up without a fight.

Meeting your baby for the first time should be full of happiness and joy but it was a little different for us, we were faced with lots of machines with alarms, medications and so much new terminology that we really didn’t understand.

Not only was Harry extremely premature, but he also battled various problems such as a Patent Ductus Arterious (PDA), Intra-ventricular haemorrhage, Renal Impairment,  Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC) and Sepsis. Our little Harry kept everyone on their toes and he never really had a quiet day in NICU. He even got the blue light escort to Alder Hey THREE TIMES where he had to undergo three surgeries.

Harry’s stay on the NICU lasted 45 days and while there the staff became our family, the standard of care given to Harry was unbelievable and Craig and I are forever grateful they were able to give us the most amazing time as a family. They taught us everything we needed to know to be able to care for our beautiful boy the best we could from nappy and bed changes to the best snuggles we could have wished for but, on the 29th August, Harry fell asleep for the last time in Mummy and Daddy’s arms.

There is nothing we can do to thank you but as a token of our appreciation, we would like to help and raise money for the NICU as we would like to help in any way we can to help support other families.

We thank you for all from the bottom of our hearts for the love, care and support given to Harry and ourselves during our time with you, it’s something we will never ever forget.

Love Jen & Craig xxx
