Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

2nd November Update

So......less than 5 days to go and nerves are starting to kick in, I'm prepared with all my kit - plenty of thermals and wet wipes! Once again thank you to those of you who have donated and your kind messages, I will be taking a print and using them to motivate me when the days are tough and especially on those dark and very very cold nights!!

This is my last entry before I go so please donate to a very worthy cause and I will see you on my return.

7th September Update

Oh YES!!! Part 1 of the challenge is over after 4 long days of cycling in driving wind & rain, having had 9 punctures, a change of tyre and finding muscles I never knew I had - I finally made it to Paris on 5th September (see pics). Thank you for your kind words of support & donations so far, those that helped me through training and were there at the finish, you know who you are and it means a lot!

In 8 weeks I'll be taking on the next part of the challenge to Everest Base Camp which will just about give me time to recover from the cycle. We all have been touched directly or indirectly by cancer, please help to support Macmillan help make others lives a little bit better. Thanking you in  advance. Barathy x

23rd August Update

I know... why cycle to Paris and trek to base camp? Eurostar doesn't ruin your backside (as far as I know), gets there in under 3 hours instead of 4 days and I could always view Everest from an aircraft rather than trek for 20 days without any luxuries!

Why, oh why, oh why? My bike has become a 2nd Blackberry, accompanying me everywhere - I spend more time with it than my friends and family. It's not to get up the noses of London drivers although I'm enjoying the battle, it's not to lose weight (I'm eating more than ever) it could be to save money in the credit crunch (but its not).

It's just because I thought I could raise a bit of cash for a worthy cause. The cancer disease is more and more common, 1 in 3 people suffer from it, unfortunately the majority of us know someone who has had cancer in their life.  Whether a close friend, someone we went to school with, or worse, a family member or relative, the effects can be devastating.

The charity I'm supporting is Macmillan, so please dip in, give what you can and help make a few lives a little better.

Thank you very much,

Barathy x

(Santander will match the donations too se every penny you can spare will help)
