Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Dunwich Dynamo, Streetchild Africa JustGiving page.
Two years ago, a mad friend of mine Will, asked me if I'd like to do this psychotic caper called the Dunwich Dynamo, a 200 kilometre, overnight cycle from London to Dunwich in Suffolk. I can't say I prepared well, and I can't say it was always enjoyable, I can't even say that when I agreed to do it, I thought I actually would....but I did, and it was immensely satisfying, not least because I managed to raise a fair bit of cash for charity in the process.
So two years having passed since the last time I did it, Will has raised a merry band of nutters willing to do it again, and I've asked them whether they'll also help me raise some money for a good cause in the process.
Since 2008, I've become a trustee of Streetchild Africa, a fabulous charity that supports trusted agencies on the ground in 7 sub saharan African countries, helping, educating and protecting children in what is technically called 'street situations.'
I can't always give as much time as I'd like to help the tireless team who run the charity day to day, but with money tight on a global scale, I do know that more than ever they need cash now to be able to carry out the great work they do, especially in troubled countries such as Zimbabwe. If you want to know more, the SCA website is www.streetchildafrica.org.uk.
So it's simple, we'd love you to help in any way you can by sponsoring us, and we'll do our bit by not falling asleep and going as fast as we can....perhaps beating last years' 9 hrs 45mins...only the money and the thought of a cold beer at sunrise will keep us going.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So thanks from all of us, photos will be posted!
