Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

If you know me, you'll know how much I love a tipple! But for the whole of October I'll be going sober, in the hope of raising lots of lovely £££ for the Lexi Mace Brighter Future Fund.

Lexi was born on December 15th 2017 and spent just one perfect afternoon and evening with her loving family. Sadly, Lexi became very unwell with sepsis soon after her birth, and passed away on 17th December 2017 despite the best efforts of the doctors and staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital to save her life. She is remembered every day and deeply loved by her family, who aim to honour her memory through the Lexi Mace Brighter Future Fund, which raises money for Great Ormond Street to help some of the sickest children in the world.

The fact that Lexi shares a birthday with my Mila (who also until recently attended Tiggers preschool with Lexi's brother Luke) and was born just a few weeks after my Marnie, means that this hits very close to home indeed. I cannot begin to imagine the overwhelming pain of losing your newborn, and having to explain to your children that their much-wanted baby sister will not be coming home with them...much less ten days before Christmas...

Unfortunately a series of injuries have put paid to my plans to run a 5/10k for the fund by the end of this year, so giving up the booze seems like the next most viable - if not exactly easier! - option! If you'd like to show me some solidarity, have a laugh at my expense, or indeed if you're even wondering if I'll actually manage to make it through, please do consider making a donation. Each and every pound raised goes straight to Great Ormond Street to fund the incredible life-saving work they do, and to make the lives of the sick children in their care just that little bit brighter. Most of all, I know your support will mean the world to Andrew, Sophie, Annabelle and Lukie, to show that their beautiful little girl's legacy lives on...and to me. After all, I'll need all the motivation I can get!
