Story

 Post Race Report

All 8 team members completed the 10km run and had a fantastic time. Chris, best friend of Andrew, was the first team member home in 49 minutes. This was the first run that he had completed since he completed the 2010 London Marathon, also in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. He was closely followed by upper sixth student Dan in 51 minutes.

Other times: Gina 1 hour 3 minutes

                     Tina 1 hour 15 minutes

                     Tracey 1 hour 19 minutes

                     Caroline 1 hour 26 minutes

                     Fiona 1 hour 32 minutes

                     Mary  1 hour 32 minutes

We all enjoyed the experience despite heavy rain during the second lap. Both Andrew and Edd’s mums supported the team from start to finish. We exceeded our fundraising target and raised £560 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. We are already looking forward to taking part next year! Thank you for the tremendous support that we have received.

Mark Girven, best friend of Edd, completed the Great North Run in less than 2 hours on September 19th and raised £828 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

On Friday 8th October, the upper school held a mufti day and cake sale and raised a superb £1500 split between Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, Headway and the Ma Foi Foudation, India.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are running in memory of Edd Griffiths and  Andrew  Lucken who were diagnosed with Leukaemia whilst at Bedford School. They both showed extraordinary fortitude during their illnesses, facing their treatment with exceptional stoicism and good humour.  They never complained about the hand they'd been dealt and always went out of their way to help others. Despite the bravest of battles, Edd lost his fight for life in July 2006 at the age of 17 and Andrew lost his fight for life in May 2007 at the age of 18.  They were both tremendous students and cracking lads, and we'd like to dedicate this run to them by raising as much money as possible for 'Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research'.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a donation: Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Mary, Alex, Dan, Gina, Tina, Fiona, Caroline, Tracey and Chris
