This summer I am taking on the challenge of competing in one of the world's premiere ultra endurance events - the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.

I've had my sights set on this event since I discovered my love(-hate) relationship with running trails. Over the last two years I've been building up my capacity, earning my qualifying points and getting prepared. However, now that I have secured my place the real hard work starts!

The course is set around the amazing Mont Blanc massif. Starting in Chamonix the 170km course winds it's way through the mountains, passing through Italy and Switzerland before returning back the Chamonix - all the while accumulating 10,000m of ascent (enough to get up and down Everest and then some).

I've decided to raise money for ClientEarth - a really effective environmental charity dedicated to defending environmental rights and combating climate change. For such an ambitious challenge I've set myself an ambitious fundraising target!

That's £1 for every 10 vertical metres climbed during the race.
