Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Between 8th and 10th June 2007 I plan to cycle from London to to Paris to raise money for the Meningitis Trust in memory of my son Matthew who died on 18th August 2003 of meningococcal septicaemia, aged just 18 months.
Matthew was a lovely, cheerful, little boy who brought happiness wherever he went. Whilst enjoying himself at a birthday party on 17th August 2003, he suddenly developed a temperature. Despite hospital treatment he died just 12 hours after the onset of his illness. The photograph of him in his Aston Villa kit was taken at the party just minutes before he became ill. The other is of Matthew with me when he was 6 months old.
There is still no effective vaccine to prevent the strain of the disease which killed Matthew. Meningitis can affect anyone of any age at any time.
I will be paying the cost of my trip myself so that the monies raised will go to the Meningitis Trust. Obviously I want to raise as much money as I possibly can to help further the invaluable work of the Trust.
I have never undertaken anything of this nature before!
I would be extremely grateful if you would sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Meningitis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support,
Bernie.
