Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, it is genuinely appreciated and hopefully you can afford to donate a small amount to a very worthwhile charity.
For most of you who happen to know me, you may know that I get involved in charity work from time to time as I feel it is my way of giving something to those less fortunate than myself.
You know the type of events, a sponsored swim, a bring and buy sale in our home (that was mad, but it was fun), a makeover party - things that normal people normally do for a good cause!!!
Well I have done it this time - I am going to jump off and abseil down the side of Carrickfergus Castle in our historic town!!!!
Now, I am not normally afraid of heights but launching myself off the side of such a landmark had never really entered my mind until a bright spark friend of mine asked did I know of anyone mad enough to do such thing?
And why would I do such a thing, why not stick to cutting hair and applying makeup??
Well two things have motivated me in this regard - one is the fact that a children's cancer charity is a very worthwhile cause and the other is the loving memory of my mum and dad who both suffered from cancer in their later years to such a degree that this awful disease was a major contributing factor to their passing.
So with a heart and a half I am launching myself off Carrickfergus Castle on Sunday 3rd October in the small hope that my effort will help raise funds for a child somewhere to prevent them from enduring the suffering that my mum and dad went through.
So armed with my best intentions and the support of my husband Drew (whose company Quality Manufacturing Systems is sponsoring the participation fee - thanks sweetheart), my wonderful daughter Ashley and all of my fantastic friends I hope to earn £500 for this very worthwhile cause.
So if you can afford to support me and this cause please dig deep and donate now.
My love and thanks to all xx
Betty
In Loving Memory of Jimmy and Betty.
