Story
I know that I said that I would only attempt the marathon once and yet here I am again signed up for London 2010! I have to admit that I did enjoy running last year, but this year my commitment and focus is for raising as much money as I can for Myeloma UK.
Myeloma UK is a charity that means a great deal to me and my family. Just over a year ago my father was diagnosed with Myeloma. Despite a difficult year, my father's determination, strength and of course the excellent care and treatment he received, has meant that he is back living and enjoying life to the max!. Anyone who knows my father will not be surprised to hear that he is now frequently playing tennis and golf and can still easily beat us all on the squash court without breaking too much of a sweat! He is a true inspiration to all!
Myeloma UK provides information and support to those people like my father, affected by the disease and the charity strives to improve treatment and care through research, education and raising awareness. Myeloma is not a disease that is fully curable and therefore my father, and many others, depend on the support of Myeloma UK and the new treatments that become available in order to control symptoms and ensure that they can continue to live life to the full for as long as possible!
I know that we are all asked numerous times a year for sponsorship, and that times are difficult, but I would be really grateful if you are able to make even a small donation as I know that your money will make such a difference.
Many thanks and I will keep you all updated on my progress. I have to say that I have not found my first week of proper training easy at all with all this snow and ice! Hopefully this cold weather disappears very soon! I do know however that it will all be worth it on the day! This one is definitely for you Dad and in true Stopps style I am sure that I might even try to beat last years time!
Lots of love
Bex
