Firstly, I want to promise that
all the money raised is goes to the Amani Center in Tanzania, I will be paying for
the actual trek myself, and I will be going down there 20th June 2010 to
volunteer at the center.
So what is the Amani Center??
"The Amani centre in Morogoro Tanzania is a day school, rehabilitating and caring for mentally disabled children or those with other related disabilities. Its founder, Mama Josephine Bakhita, who is herself mother of a (now late mentally disabled son) is a social worker continuing to develop the Amani centre as an NGO. The services provided range from physiotherapy, day care education, vocational training and community development of social workers. Annually many foreign students and other visitors from abroad contribute to the size and beauty of the Amani community, some embark on projects to help expand the centre, and others help with the day to day tasks of running the centre and caring for the children." previous volunteer at the Amani center.
In
the summer of 2010 I will be making my way up Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest
mountain in Africa (5,892m) in order to raise money for the children at the
Amani Center.
In
the past I have cycled up Alpe d'Huez, and Gavia, but this is something entirely
new for me- and I am looking forward to the challange. I hope you will support
me and the children at the Amani Center through your generous donations.
Please please, I know many of
you are students and very tight for money, consider it one or two pints less on
a night out, or even better, donate the money for a night out to the children
at the Amani Center.
Thank
you very much for your time, and
please sponsor me.

you would like to send a
cheque instead made payable to
