Story

This year, Michael and I intend to undertake the canal walkways of Staffordshire & Worcestershire in our fundraising walking for The John Eastwood Hospice. Hopefully,  Paul will be joining us again and the three of us will put our best feet forward and complete the 46 or so miles.

Another year and here we are, walking from Edwinstowe to sunny Skegness trying to raise more, much needed funds for The John Eastwood Hospice.

....,......................................................................

What a year and a half we have had! And it is not quite over yet!

Covid -19 has made itself felt in different ways to all of us. The John Eastwood Hospice has felt the effects as much as the rest of the world. The wonderful Christmas fair as well as the Spring fair among other fundraising events have not been able to go ahead leaving a shortfall in the funds raised to keep this local treasure running for the benefit of all who have need of the wonderful services provided. The Hospice relies entirely on fundraising and donations to support the NHS in its provision of specialist palliative care services and needs to raise £450,000 per year to meet its many commitments.

With restrictions now lifted enough to make it possible, we are embarking on parts of the Cheshire Ring that were planned for last year.  Joining us this time, is another good friend and long-time supporter of our fundraising, Paul Sanders.

Paul has recently walked the Robin Hood path from Edwinstowe to Nottingham Castle (reverse walk) with Michael and me and we are looking forward to having his company on this year’s fundraising walks.

If you do wish to donate/sponsor us, please consider filling out the Gift Aid option. This adds a further 25% to your contribution!

Thank you for your time and thank you in anticipation of your fantastic support.

Yours gratefully

Brian Hawkins
