Story
Hi
I’ve signed up to a number of events this year which in aggregate will cover over 350 miles in order to raise money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. Having seen first hand the amazing work the NICU team do everyday I want to do my bit to help the Hospital build a new, bigger unit with more cots. This will enable them to treat more premature and sick babies each year and save even more precious lives. A number of mates will also be joining me along the way in support of this very worthwhile cause.
The piece of equipment I’m going to be raising funds for is a Toby Cooling Kit
Toby Cooling is a pioneering technique where the baby’s body temperature is cooled right down after it has been starved of oxygen during birth. It saves lives and reduces disability.
The baby’s body is cooled to 33.5C (normal body temperature is 37C) for 72 hours and for the treatment to be effective, it has to be started within six hours of birth. So with 46 cots in the new unit it is essential that there are at least two of these lifesaving kits.
This is where you come in… Each kit costs around £8000 and I want to raise at least half of this! Please sponsor me in my challenge and help me hit my target and make the circa 300 torturous miles worthwhile.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
