Story

CHARITY: Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Event: Steelman Triathlon July 5th 09

Accessories and kit are essential part of any great sport. Triathlon is no exception, if you're puzzled by the image on the left... all is revealed.

Why Tri ? Perhaps a fatal attraction with a sport with the most unflattering attire (wetsuit, trisuits, spandex shorts etc).... A desire to proudly display my Steelman T-shirt at my children's sports days...A text book answer can be found in Men's health ( a colleague's preferred read).. Alas the simple answer is I'm one step up from needing floaties and figured choosing a sport where you need to swim 1.5Km in a cold, mirky lake a good idea. Undeterred by stories of Pike attacks I find myself ready for the challenge.

20 Great Reasons to do a Triathlon

If any of you've had the misfortune of staying in a NHS hospital you'll probably agree they are a horribly sterile and uninviting place. For children this can be a terrrifying ordeal. In addition to excellent medical staff and facilities, Great Ormond Street provide a fantastic environment for children to feel confortable and relaxed while they receive medical care. I've visited friends children a number of times and I can't speak highly enough about the good work they are doing. To this end I'd like to put my labours to a good cause and ask you to spare a little cash in aid of my chosen charity.

Every little helps.
