I’m going to run a marathon with only 12 days of training.
So I’m challenge orientated but also love to help others. After a tough two years at work have found myself in the position with a few comfortable weeks before Christmas.
Not everyone has that luxury.
Working in cities around the country I’m moved by the increased levels of homelessness. Never have I seen so much change as in Oxford. An affluent university city buzzing with tourism. I had a job this year which really shocked me.
Managing a team on the streets of Oxford, every day I was blown away by the number of homeless individuals on Cornmarket St.
My local barbers recently held a fundraiser for this charity and both Vanessa and I wanted to go along to support, life got in the way and unfortunately we couldn’t do so. That evening.
I’m comfortable for two weeks before Christmas, some people aren’t.
The mission to me is clear, get uncomfortable.
I have run a marathon before, it took me months to prepare and even though I completed, I didn’t care about the time, I’d prepped well and the result showed it. Comfortable.
I haven’t run much this year, as of the 8/12 I’m at the two miles is enough for me stage and I’m not driven to do more.
On 22/12 I’m going to run a marathon along the Oxford Canal from Woodstock to Oxford, a few times. Route is still in planning.
It’s going to be cold, wet and shit. Nothing as bad as sleeping in it though.
12 days training has to result in me getting fit for a 26.2 mile run
Please support me any way you can, donate, share, run for a mile or just hold out a bottle of water for me.
Make a lasting change.
Homeless Oxfordshire is the largest single homeless accommodation provider in the county. Providing a safety, shelter and support to vulnerable people helping them to move out of homelessness and on to brighter futures.
