We provide a wide range of services to help those experiencing homelessness

Story

In March this year I started a brand new job which took me on a different route to work. I now work on the Strand and have to walk over the Hungerford bridge and along past the Embankment. Each work day I witness a number of homeless people either asleep, begging or sitting on the ground in silence. Each day I am torn as I am sure you all are with what the right thing to do is, but hundreds of us and me included have walked by with almost no contact. For years I have sponsored and supported great charities in Africa for children who have nothing but witnessing it every time I go to work has made me realise I need to help. Seeing a man my age in a sleeping bag sat in the rain on the bridge in silence with such low self esteem that he feels he doesn't deserve any help, is the motivation I needed to finally do something.

Now I know some of you may be aware of my ability to chat, I am not great at many things nor am I a great sports person, so taking away my ability to talk for a whole day should prove quite challenging. Well that is exactly what I am proposing, I will be having a sponsored silence on Sunday 13th December where from the moment I get up to the following day I will not mutter one word. Having tried it for 20 minutes last Saturday I have to say it's not as easy as it sounds. With 4 kids and a busy house to run in the 20 minutes I endured it involved a lot of finger pointing, clicking of fingers to get their attention and miming. Now I know you have all sponsored numerous times for many great achievements and I am not asking or expecting much but donating a few pounds per person would be amazing and I would be truly grateful. The charity I have chosen is a London based Catholic homeless charity which believe in getting out onto the streets and getting to the heart of the matter. For every £1 donated 96p goes to the cause, They feed 200 people every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a charity my parents have supported before and have been known to make a difference. I have enclosed a link below if you feel in anyway open to a small offering as even the smallest of amounts I am sure will make a huge difference. Thank you again.
