Story
I am going to the roof of Africa to keep a promise.
I am also going to raise lots of money for children who deserve much better than the hand life has dealt them, and to have the adventure of a lifetime and because when life goes wrong sometimes it can spur you to do something like this and because I have just turned 50! But I am mainly going to keep a promise.
I have got to put back a stone that came from the summit of this mountain in February 2009. Tony, a good friend of mine, (he's in the second picture on the right in the not very flattering hat! Next to the good looking one!) Anyway,he said I could borrow it, if I took it back for him and brought him a replacement, and we shook hands on the deal. And you have to keep your promises don't you!
Apparently climbing this mountain is hard, it's very cold you get hardly any sleep and you might die of altitude sickness, which would be a bit of a shame to say the least. I have this on good authority because people who have been there talk about it a lot- really they do!
Nevertheless it is also an amazing achievement, the experience of a lifetime and you get to see the curvature of the earth! Can't wait, February can't come soon enough!
Except that I do have to raise lots of money first so please be generous, not for me but for children who have been subject to the most appalling injustices imaginable. Please help me to make a difference for them because, however important keeping my promise is, some things are even more important than that!
£10 buys trauma counselling for one child
£35 buys training and set up costs for a small business
Any amount, however small, does a whole heap of good and will be much appreciated! So thanks to all of you.
