Caz and Jess are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon this April for the Saracens Foundation. With a year of 10k runs under their belt, they are now ready to take on the 13.1 mile challenge of running around the city of London.
Caz has been running for over 10 years and took part in a number of half marathons between 2011 and 2013, but Jess is new to running and this will be her first. During 2022 the pair both got into running, Caz wanted to get back into running regularly and managed to persuade Jess to give it a go with her first organised event being the Burghley 7’s in April 2022. Fast forward to April 2023 and the Lincoln 10k - both Caz and Jess took part and from thereon took part in a number of organised 10k events, including the London 10,000 in September 2023.
During 2022 and 2023 Caz and Jess have both played for Stamford Women’s Rugby, and whilst in 2024 they are concentrating more on running and other elements of fitness, will continue to be part of the team attending training when they can. Both have seen the positive effect training has had on players and their physical and mental wellbeing - and felt the Saracen’s Foundation was a fabulous charity to fundraise for as it works in the local community on a number of projects and initiatives.
Over the coming months Caz and Jess are going to be training for the London Landmarks Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday, April 7th - a big challenge but they are confident they will get there and cross the finish line in their red Saracens Foundation running vests!
Established in 2000, the Saracens Foundation is dedicated to inspiring communities and changing lives across North London and Hertfordshire through the power of sport. We both know how important sport and fitness activity is to getting through the challenges of everyday life, but we are lucky that we can do this as much or as little as we wish. This charity gives people who are not so fortunate the chance to experience sporting activities to support their mental and physical health.
