We fund pioneering research to tackle bowel cancer.

Story

The Bobby Moore Fund organizes international projects to Brazil & South Africa each year in partnership with the local people. The projects are designed to help renovate schools in poor remote villages enabling children to remain with their families and be educated in their own community.

On the 26th September 2010 my friend Andy Koufou (along with 30-40 other volunteers) will be travelling to Brazil to renovate a school called 'Escola Veredas' situated in the remote village of 'Bandeiras'.

I am running the Bupa 10K on 31st May to help raise money for this worthy cause. It would be great if you could make a small contribution to help me achieve my target. The money you kindly donate will not only go towards the project but will also raise vital funds for bowel cancer research.

Many Thanks
Chris

Some facts about bowel cancer:

16,000 people die each year of the disease making it the second highest cause of cancer deaths in the UK.

1 in 3 people (approx 21 million) develop cancer  in the UK & 1in 4 (approx 15.75 million) die of the disease.

Half of all bowel cancer patients are diagnosed after the cancer has spread making treatment more difficult and yet if the disease is detected at an early stage over 80% of cases can be successfully treated.

Stephanie Moore MBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund in partnership with Cancer Research UK, following the death of her husband, Bobby Moore, from bowel cancer. The Bobby Moore Fund is now a leader in the fight against bowel cancer, funding research that’s helping more people to survive than ever before.
