Thanks for visiting the ‘Cycle Paths’ team fundraising page for Roxana Siebert, Debbie Sellers, Laura Thomas, Christopher Miller, Helen Johnson, Stephanie Hollamby, Nicola Midwinter, Daniel Allwright, Anna Ford, Adam Shay and Alex Riley.
We've joined together to raise money for Tomorrow’s people charity and your donation can really help us smash our target. On February 27, 2014, our team (the Cycle Paths) will be participating in the AMS 'Cycle the World' in 24hrs challenge. Our team will be riding 24 hours, non-stop, on 3 static bikes, in support of bikes-for-kids charities such as http://www.worldbicyclerelief.org/ . In many places around the world bikes are education - without bikes many kids can't get to school.
The AMS goal is to collectively cycle 270-300 miles in 24hrs. We will be setting off at the same time as all the other (circa 150) AMS teams around the world, (to the same music track)!
Here is the inspiration for this distinctive, global challenge: Aged 24, Alastair Humphreys left England to cycle round the world. His 46,000 mile journey took four years to complete. On a budget of just £7,000, Alastair crossed 60 countries; he rode from England to South Africa, crossed the Atlantic by yacht and then cycled from Patagonia to Alaska. Crossing the Pacific by freighter, Alastair completed his expedition by cycling back to England from eastern Siberia.
