Story
In the past couple of months I have joined Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service as a brand new FireFighter.
The training has already introduced me to all the various hardships that FireFighters can face in the line of duty, and as a way of supporting my fellow colleagues throughout the service, I intend to spend the rest of my career raising money for the charity.
The charity provides life long support to all current and former FireFighters and support staff. This can come in the form of basic support services, to pioneering treatments. On average, the charity treats up to 17 000 personnel a year, and with no government help, all the support comes from donations.
As my first event, I intend to run Stafford Half Marathon to raise some funds. Personally, I never thought I would run further than my own drive way, so 13.1 miles seems utterly bizarre. Going from an overweight teenager, to a 3 stone lighter, half marathon running, FireFighter is a bit of a leap.
So help me, help my community, and help all those around the country that come out in the big red truck for when everything goes a bit wrong, and donate =]
