Story
Beau Hairdressing is so proud to be part of the My New Hair Organisation.
My New Hair is a charity founded and inspired by professional stylist Trevor Sorbie MBE. The charity, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2016, provides advice and support to anyone who has experienced medical hair loss. It also has a national support network of independent salons and professionals who provide a wig-customisation service.
The charity provides training seminars for hair professionals, who can then become part of the charity’s salon network – Salons that Care. They provide a wig-cutting/styling and advice service to anyone with medical hair loss. Importantly, each of these professionals pledges their commitment to responsible training and provide a caring and sensitive service for their clients. The charity also works closely with cancer health professionals and cancer hospitals to enhance the quality of the patient journey.
There are currently around 900 hairdressers and 800 salons in the Salons that Care network in all areas of the UK and the Republic of Ireland, and more than 100 Level 1 and 2 training seminars are held every year.
mynewhair has produced a booklet of advice and information in conjunction with the Department of Health and Institute of Trichologists. The Patient Information Resource booklet gives readers lots of detail on what happens when you lose your hair, choosing a wig, having your wig styled to suit you and aftercare/ hair re-growth.
