Story
On April 25, 2015, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook and destroyed Nepal. Casualties amounted to 8,800 dead, 23,000 injured, thousands homeless and displaced. Total damage is estimated to be worth US$5 billion, and this does not count the priceless treasures in the form of centuries-old buildings and temples in the country protected by UNESCO for their importance in Nepalese culture and heritage.
Economists have forecasted that without outside help, it
would be near to impossible for Nepal to recover. It is, after all, considered
to be one of the poorest countries in Asia. Even so, people are putting out all
the effort they can to raise money so they could help Nepal get back on its
feet. Among them is Ms. Spring Nguyen, an Oklahoma state worker who raises
money through her "Cooking from the Heart" charity by cooking and
selling spring rolls.
We're trying to emulate Ms. Nguyen by selling spring rolls
too. But you don't have to do the same. You can do your part in helping Nepal
recover by donating to Ms. Nguyen or to Health Exchange Nepal.
