Story

In the summer of 2005 good friends of mine, Samara and Mark Hammond, lost their daughter Katherine very suddenly to meningitis when she was only 3. Wishing to do something in her memory, this tragedy moved them to raise funds to build a primary school in rural Kenya as a lasting tribute to Kit Kat (as she was affectionately known).

The Katherine Hammond School or "Telelani" as its known locally, has now been built through the Kipungani Schools Trust  and was officially opened in November 2008. It has already enrolled 200 students between the ages of 5-15 and is helping to provide a start in life for the local children, which in this country we take for granted. The challenge now is to keep the school going and to this end the Trust needs to raise £5,000 a year to maintain the school, including providing half of the teachers, a continued programme of improvements and developing the sports facilities, which currently consists of a field that is used as a football pitch.

In order to help the funding of this terrific cause, I have agreed to join a party of 12 people who on February 6 and 7 will endeavour to Ski 24 Peaks in 36 Hours in 4 Ski Regions of Austria and descend twice the height of Everest at the same time! I am hoping you may consider this to be worthy of a little sponsorship.

Please dig deep and donate now!

Many thanks

Chris
