Thanks a lot for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!!
Meet Team DEET! We are lecturing staff from GEN2's Department of Engineering and Energy Technology, and we will be taking on the C2C cycling challenge this May to raise valuable funds for Eden Valley Hospice!
On May 29th, six cyclists, together with six supporters, will leave Whitehaven harbour to embark on what promises to be the most challenging bike ride that some of us are likely to experience. Over three days we will cycle approximately 140 miles, taking on infamous climbs, and testing our endurance as we do. We know this going to be a difficult, but our motivation to support a force that is so highly valued in our community will see us through, together with the opportunity to fulfil a personal feat.
Eden Valley Hospice endeavours to care for people with life limiting illnesses, while helping them to maintain their dignity whilst at their most vulnerable. Their work is enlightening, and has benefitted over five thousand affected people and their families since the facility opened in 1991. 75% of the funds required to keep the Hospice sustainable are acquired through fundraising. We therefore hope to help them continue their fantastic work through contributing in this small way.
The cycling team is comprised of Kevin Rumney, Rick Hallard, Bill Hocking, Nick Venables, Emma Hennessy, and Stephanie Bird, and we are busy training hard to ensure we accomplish this feat, and earn all your generous sponsorship. We will be joined by colleagues across the route, including Paul Fairclough, John Robertson, Rob Ward, and Lisa Moore, who will all keep our spirits high with their terrible jokes and kind words of encouragement.
We are all very excited about this challenge and are hoping very much for you to help us support Eden Valley Hospice by donating anything you can.
Many Thanks,
The Team xX
