Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may know, on October 1, 2012, Maddie suffered a dreadful scald accident which resulted in emergency surgery and an 11 day stay in a specialist burns unit at Salisbury hospital. Eighteen months of regular hospital trips followed, and our brave little girl wore her 'special pressure vest' 24 hours a day without complaint.
Throughout her recovery and even now, almost nine years later, we are in regular contact with the burns outreach nurse and it brings great comfort to know that should we require support in the future, it is available to us.
None of this would be possible without FAB- a charity aimed at supporting burns affected children and their families. They provide emotional support, links to other agencies and social events. Maddie has really enjoyed attending camps exclusively designed for children with burns scarring. She has made some wonderful friends and her confidence and acceptance of her accident is humbling. I am so very proud of her.
This year, FAB celebrates its 20th anniversary and as I was fortunate enough to be awarded a place in the London Landmarks half marathon I thought it would be a great opportunity to raise money for and give back to a charity that has done so much for us over the years. 20 years - 20 km (ish)! I've never run that far before!
Thanks for reading my story and I will appreciate any donations made.
