Lennox Children's Cancer Fund makes a positive difference to the lives of children fighting cancer. This is achieved through key projects, such as Respite Breaks and Care Grants, which support the whole family practically, financially and emotionally at a time when it is needed most.

Story

When you are given the news that your child has cancer there is very little you wouldn’t do to take it away from her. You would gladly take the illness yourself, put your own body through every treatment, empty your bank account or give away all you own. But that’s not how it works. Instead you have to hold her hand through the night, hold her down for each injection, clean up when she’s sick after chemo and wipe away tears whilst hiding your own.

It’s a dark place that as a parent you would not want to think about. Until it becomes reality, our reality with our beautiful girl Darcy.

Yet during this time of darkness for our family we found moments of light, happiness and special memories and this was all down to The Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

The charity reached out to us and last October and sent us on a respite break, local to Ipswich Hospital so we were close for Darcy’s weekly chemotherapy appointments. It was very much needed and we didn’t know how much until we got there. A wonderful secluded farm house for us to stay in, with animals that Darcy and Fynn could feed. A complete change from months of hospital life and an opportunity to spend time as a family, together!

Please help us put this charity in the spotlight and thank them by raising funds so they can send other local families away who are facing their darkness right know.

Claire and I are undertaking the 2 miles open water swim at the Serpentine Hyde Park on September 18th 2021, with neither of us regular swimmers this will be quite the challenge and we hope to raise as much money as possible for a great cause.

Thank you all for all the support you have shown are family over the last 18 months, it has meant the world.

For more about our swim please see the link below. Hopefully spectators will be allowed but if not we'll have a few keen unofficial followers posting our progress on our Instagram's.
