Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am delighted to be running the Virgin London Marathon this April on behalf of the National Eczema Society, whose work greatly improves the lives of so many.
I have witnessed my eldest niece, Francesca, suffer with the discomfort that eczema can bring in children’s early years. Through my job as Sales and Marketing Director for Synergy Health, I also see first-hand the suffering and discomfort that eczema patients of all ages endure. We supply the Comfi range of Easywrap garments for use in the treatment of atopic eczema in both adults and children and so it’s great to be raising funds for a worthwhile cause that will help our customers.
Apart from the small matter of the 26.2 miles race around London, my colleagues assure me that ‘Team Comfi’ will support me all the way.
Over the years I’ve raised more than £10,000 for charity through marathon running, this being my 16th marathon race and 9th in London, but the first time that I have raised money on behalf of NES. Running has been a great way for me to keep fit over the last 10-15 years and big city marathons have been a great addition to family autumn breaks in New York, Chicago and Washington DC.
By best race time so far is 3hrs 35mins in New York 2006, and I’m hoping to achieve 3hrs 45mins this year, but the London Marathon really is a special event and so it’s great to enjoy the sights and atmosphere and not worry too much about performance.
I know that the joint efforts of work colleagues, family and friends will help me to achieve and surpass the £1500 fundraising target. Claire, Alex and Matthew plan to be there to support me on the day of the marathon and the Synergy team will be supporting the fundraising activities between now and April.
